I read a camper’s Facebook status update recently. It had been an amazing week of camp for him. (Disclosure: I was not the speaker) He had seen miracles take place, really cool visible healings. That was great and encouraging. As part of his status he wrote, “I don’t believe it because its in the Bible. I believe it because I experienced it!” What happens when he prays and a miracle doesn’t happen? Does that mean God isn’t real? A biblically based faith helps us when the experience fades. A biblically based faith is a support when someone questions the experience. Can we disciple our students to use the Bible to filter their experiences rather than using their experiences to support their faith?
I believe it!
